Structure

Dance Camp North is a limited liability company which is run by volunteers. No one receives any money for what they do. It is also a members only organisation which means that only members can attend events. You will become a member when you attend camp by paying the fee as part of your ticket price. If you have a full working ticket you will still have to pay the membership fee. At the moment it is £12.50.

You can join at any time of the year in order to attend other events such as the AGM or the May gathering. The year runs from August to July, so someone joining for an event in June will have to join again in August.

The company is run by a management committee called the Development Group. The group is chosen each year at the AGM from the members of Dance Camp North.

These people handle the policy and running of the business including legal responsibilities such as producing accounts. They are also responsible for things such as Health and Safety, Child Protection and any other policies appropriate to the organisation. This group meet regularly throughout the year (between 6 and 8 times)

The Development group includes the people who will actually organise the camp. The group usually includes people who manage a particular area of the camp such as the cafe, gate or publicity.

The members may instruct the group to run other events. A separate sub-group can be appointed for each event. These sub-groups meet only to create the events they were selected for and stop meeting after each event. The sub-group will report to the development group.

Decisions at Dance Camp North are generally made by concensus. This involves arriving at a point where everyone at the meeting can live with the conclusion. It means meetings can involve a lot of discussion, it demands that we come up with creative solutions, and it means everyone get something they are happy with.
