There are a number of ways of getting involved: Come to the camp - usually this has been the starting point for all of us.
Everyone at the camp has paid a membership fee which gives them a right to say about the future of the organisation. All members can attend the AGM held at the end of January or early February. You will get an invitation in December. At the AGM the Development Group is chosen.
The development group holds regular meetings to discuss ways of developing DCN Ltd and in particular create the camp. This group comprises directors and non directors and different people have different roles. People are chosen to be part of this group because they have somthing to offer a particular role. Examples of roles Publicity, Bookings, Gate, Well Being, Workshops, Creativity, Café, Site, Young People's area, Young people's rep. Company Secretary, Treasurer
Members meet at least one more time during the year - at camp. The Development Group meet all year. Their job is to oversee and support any projects undertaken. The main project is the camp. They also are responsible for legal matters such at health and safety and for producing the annual accounts. They have to develop policy as directed by the members and report back.

Current policies are Child protection, First Aid Health and Safety etc. Some members are looking for new places for the camp. Some members are working on potential lottery fund bids. There are currently 10 members of the development group. From the directors a company chairperson, and a secretary are chosen.
Other ways to get involved Everyone who attends camp is expected to work at least one "shift" in a particular area of the camp. This might be on the gate, in the cafe, helping with the childrens are etc. You will be asked for your preference when you book, and we will try to meet your needs. Working for the camp is an integral part of helping build the community we create during the camp and maintain throughout the year. You can offer additional services or workshops during the course of the camp.
There is a busy programme of workshops planned throughout the week, but there is always planned space for spontaneous events. In the past people have tried out new ideas and then been asked to return on the main programme to bring them again or develop them. You can offer to help setup and run the camp. There are always ways in which we can find people work at the camp in exchange for a working or partial working ticket. You can work on the site crew helping set up or take down the camp - we always like to leave a field as we found it. There are also jobs in the cafe, on the welcome team or gate or working with children and teens.
